Everyone needs a pick-me-up. Sometimes, I want something complicated and other times I just want escapist fun. My favorite pick me up movies are Galaxy Quest, Star Trek: First Contact, Ed Wood, and Dodgeball. I also like watching Singing in the Rain because it’s so upbeat it’s hard not to smile.
My daughter really likes the movie SING. We watch that a lot.
I am currently doing a re-read of Game of Thrones. I started at one point, and lately, have been reading it again. I’m doing a lot more reading since I’ve had to start to work online. By the end of the day, I no longer want to look at a screen. I’ve also go back to my TBR and picked up a few of the urban fantasy series I haven’t caught up on in a while. And I have my growing list of audiobooks. I think I’ll try the X-files next.
I know this is a short post. I hope you’re all well out there. I’d love to hear any suggestions for fun pick me up movies.
Galaxy Quest and Singin’ in the Rain always cheer me up too. Can’t go wrong with those two!

I love all the Star Trek movies, but this one is especially great. And I hear you about not wanting to stare at a screen after staring at one all day long. Enjoy your re-read of GOT! I’ve read the first but haven’t made it back for the rest yet.

In the re-read I rediscovered all the characters and subplots I’d completely forgotten about.

In thinking about this, I made an interesting discovery. I have go to’s in, I think, all of the mediums. Paper books – Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter (Laurell K Hamilton) or The Twilight Saga. E-books – Rachel Morgan, The Hallows.(Kim Harrison) Movies – The Twilight Saga, after I have read the books. TV shows – Farscape. Audible – The Dresden Files as read by James Marsters. I have read, watched, or listened to these so often I know the dialog, but I still go back.

I didn’t know that had Dresden Files on audio! I loved books.

Oh yes! That was my introduction to audible! James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) does an amazing job narrating. I actually love the audible better than the reading the books. I love listening to Marsters. Can’t wait for the new one, Peace Talks, coming next month.

Oh, Galaxy Quest is great fun. I haven’t tried Game of Thrones (I’ve been afraid of the time commitment, TBH) but I love your list of suggestions.

GoT is an intimidating process, but I can’t go out much so why not?

I’m feeling left out because I haven’t seen any of those!!
I had ideas about trying GoT but it’s just too daunting – both the books and the telly series.
