Books I Keep Meaning to Read(But Haven’t)

WednesdayBloggingChallenge-copy

I have many, many books on my TBR. Some I get to quickly. Others only on vacations.  I decided to pick a few series that I’ve heard about and still intend to get to. One of these days….

The Three Body Problem Cixin Liu

I have this book. I will read this book. It’s one of those that I just haven’t had the time since I’ve purchased it to concentrate on it.

The Calculating Stars    Mary Robinette Kowai

This has been recommended to me by lots of friends. It does look to be up my alley. I’m adding the series to my Christmas list. I might even get actual physical books.

The Hyperion Series Dan Simmons

This series it at my local library. I’ve seen it, but what really peaked my interest was watching a Youtube show which covers lots of SF universes.

Doctor Sleep Stephen King

I don’t read a lot of Stephen King because I scare easily. But, I have a love of  The Shining in books and movie forms. I should probably read it before the movie comes out.

Leviathan Wakes (The Expanse) James S.A. Corey

I’m really enjoying the Expanse on Amazon Prime. I’m considered the audiobook because I’ve heard good things about it.

Any other suggestions?

  1. These are some great ones to add to my (ever-growing) TBR list… thanks! Mine are here!

  2. I liked Doctor Sleep. It has a haunting quality – not scary (to me) – but haunting. You’ll never look at Winnebago campers the same way. Calculating the Stars looks interesting. I’m currently reading Rise of the Rocket Girls. It’s a good one.
    Great list!

    1. I think I can put aside my easily-scared persona long enough for Doctor Sleep.

  3. I too have The Three Body Problem, but not read. Hmmm. I listened to the audio of Leviathon Wakes and it was very good – very close to the TV show. I recommend it! But the series is so long, I decided not to continue at this time since only book 1 audio was available at my library. Calculating the Stars is on my TBR. Hyperion is on my HBR (has been read), but it was sooo loonngg ago, it would be a good one to read again. Nice list!

    1. Maybe the audio will be good for winter vacation time. And I’ll try to push Hyperion up on my someday list.

  5. Hi, Echo – The Three Body Problem was a disappointment for me. Interesting ideas and cultural background, but terrible characterization and wooden dialogue.

If you like scifi (as you clearly do), I recommend Paolo Bacigalupi’s The Windup Girl.

    1. Thanks for the insight. I’ll start it and see how it goes. I tried The Windup Girl at some point; not sure why I didn’t finish. It must have been a library book.

  6. I’m a big Stephen King fan and haven’t read Doctor Sleep yet either. Might have to move that up the list soon!

  7. Stephen King gives me nightmares. Makes him a good writer, huh? But for me, no way. The others on your list I’m not familiar, will be checking them out. Thanks for sharing!

  8. I read the first of the Expanse books and really enjoyed it. I need to read the others!

The Hyperion books are well worth reading, and now you’ve got me interested in The Three-Body Problem.
